Office of Tourism Launches New Fall Travel Website

The Indiana Office of Tourism Development launched today a travel planning resource for fall travel. Tour, Taste, Traditions is a promotion that highlights dozens of fall excursions, u-picks and markets, wineries and breweries and festivals throughout Indiana at VisitIndianaFall.com.

The new website also features some of the best places to see fall foliage and some of the best places for pie, and encourages Hoosiers to vote for their favorites. The Top 10 in "Best of" fall foliage destinations and locations for pie will be announced on Oct. 16. Voting is taking place now at VisitIndianaFall.com by going to the Fall Favorites page.

"There is no better place to experience the beautiful foliage that fall brings than at one of Indiana's pristine state parks, charming small towns or agricultural destinations," said Lt. Governor Becky Skillman, who oversees the Office of Tourism Development. "Enjoy the many affordable, authentic experiences Indiana offers to Hoosiers and out-of-state visitors."

Many destinations are gearing up for fall across the state, and below are a few ideas for fall travel in Indiana.

A Colorful Visit in Brown County (Nashville) and Bloomington
Visitors will see art everywhere they turn, whether it's created by people or nature. Explore studios and galleries in Nashville or hike the trails of Brown County State Park. Art comes to the dining table in Bloomington.

Celebrate the Past and Present, Fort Wayne
Enjoy fall outdoors at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory and the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. Celebrate the life and times of John Chapman during the annual Johnny Appleseed Festival Sept. 15-16.

Covered Bridge Capital of the World, Rockville
Indiana's largest festival - the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival - runs Oct. 12-21 and promises beautiful scenery, shopping, eating and entertainment. And, a visit to Turkey Run State Park will make the trip complete.

Drive the Ohio River Scenic Byway, Madison
This 303-mile scenic tour takes you through quaint historic towns like Madison, Vevay and Newburgh. Zoom through the trees at Dagaz Acres Zipline Adventure, climb the trails at Clifty Falls State Park, and try your luck at Belterra Casino.

"F" is for Football, Farmers and Factory, South Bend
Fall means football in South Bend, so tailgate and cheer on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Pick up veggies, cheeses and fresh-cut flowers at one of the Midwest's largest indoor markets. Enjoy the sweet smells during a South Bend Chocolate Factory tour.

Comfort Food Trail, Southwest Indiana
Enjoy restaurants and take home fresh produce from stops along the Comfort Food Trail in the southwest corner of Indiana. Stops are as varied as Blue Heron Vineyard and Tell City Pretzels.
